Today’s Speedy Vegan Tip…If you’re not sure if a product’s vegan, it’s easy and effective to make a call to the corporation’s customer service number listed on the back of the box, bottle or package. By taking this simple step I found out that all of Florida Crystal’s organic sugars are vegan (no natural charcoal made of animal bones is used in processing), but C&H and Domino aren’t vegan. I also found out one of my favorite beer brands, Chimay, is vegan (no isinglass — fish bladder — is used to brew it) but many others aren’t. All it takes is a call or an email, and most likely you’ll get an answer within a day or two. The more people ask, the more corporations will know that consumers want animal-free foods. So next time you’re not sure, you make the call.
